BitButlers list for Active Auctions
1. What do the names of the fields on BidButler List in the Administration Area mean? What does it mean when it says Active (Y/N)?
Active Y means that the user didn’t cancel it, it’s currently active
2. What happens when a user removes his bidbutler? Can we still see it?
Yes, we see active “N”
3. What happens when a user stops his bidbutler?
“Active” field shows “N” as well
4. How do we distribute and control our coupons? Can we give/send them to someone directly through the interface? Or via a newsletter/mail? Can we issue a limited number of coupons?
Coupons will allow you, once the user enters the coupon code, to:
1) Give out a configurable amount of credits for free for registration (this in addition to the free credits the user might get for registration anyway)
2) Make a discount for credit purchase. To create a coupon the site admin will define the name, the code, starting and expiration dates, and total amount of coupons (one user can only use one type of coupon once). Then the admin may distribute the code of the coupon in any way he prefers.
5. Countries: What is the impact of having an extra country? How can you put in the translation from French to English for example? Can we correct it manually?
You can order the site in 2 or more languages. Our admin tool will allow you to translate all the texts on the site manually. The user will be able to switch languages at any given moment.
6. Currencies: How does it affect the payment part? Is there a specific deal with Paypal? Under what rates will payments be converted? Is there a specific bank account it has t be linked to?
Do you want 2 currencies? We can provide you with a converter that will allow the admin to convert prices on new auctions only (i.e. active auctions will operate under the rates that were used when they were created) or we can allow you to enter 2 prices for each auction.
We define user’s country by his IP using GEO plugin. Every user from that country will see the auctions in its currency. PayPal converts currencies automatically, Credit Card gateways vary – you’ll need to send us a list of the gateways you want to integrate on your site.
7. Newsletter: Can we extract all emails from registered users? Can we add results of the finished/won auctions?
Yes on both.
8. Affiliates: How do affiliates code work? When someone joins do they enter the code attributed to them? Does credit correspond to the amount of bids given to the person behind the code?
9. Graphics: How to change the graphic interface? How simple/light can we make it? How to insert left and right menus if needed?
If you purchase a design and its integration from us we will make sure you like the design. It will be customized to your needs and tastes. However, once it’s integrated it will be impossible to make significant changes. We do provide free support for the first 6 months but that is rather functionality oriented.
10. Emails: Can we have automatic emails sent to us (admins) for every auction over?
Yes
11. Polls: Can we add polls to know which products users prefer?
Yes, you can create auctions that will only start only once there is a configurable amount of user votes. Also you can have a simple request form for new products.
12. Hosting and domain: What are the guarantees of safety and of processing capacities (during peaktimes)?
13. Why is your Penny Auction script written in PHP and not in . NET
Our script is written in pure PHP, rather than .NET for the performance sake, since if it were created in .NET, the performance would be terribly bad. Moreover, if the software is not installed on a dedicated server, it would cost ~$1300 per month and SQL server Enterprise Edition would have the price of $32.000. Thus, 99% of all auctions work in PHP.
